The Maitree Express – Connecting India and Bangladesh


Maitree Express is one of the Frontier and International Passenger Trains by Indian Railways. It runs between Kolkata and Dhaka for connecting India and Bangladesh. Maitree Express means “Friendship Express” which it really does by creating good foreign relations between Bangladesh and India as train service. Before partition, the train service between the two nations existed. This service is re-established by Maitree Express by connecting Dhaka – Capital of Bangladesh to Kolkata – Capital of West Bengal, India in 2008.

The train is kept under the Army’s control and complete secured by the army on both side as it plays its imp. significance/role. The train runs 6 days in a week except on Thursday.

Moving from India towards Bangladesh :-

When it moves from Bangladesh toward India it follow the same route in Opposite way.

Train Number:-

13107 :- Dhaka Cantt to Kolkata ( Friday, Sunday )

13108 :- Kolkata to Dhaka Cantt. ( Saturday, Monday )

The train no. 13107 and 13108 contain the Bangladesh Railway rakes.

13109 :- Kolkata to Dhaka Cantt. ( Tuesday, Friday  )

13110 :- Dhaka Cantt to Kolkata ( Saturday, Wenesday )

The train no. 13109 and 13110 contain the Indian Railway rakes.

  1. No. of stops :- 2 ( Gede and Darshana ).
  2. Travel Time :- 11-12 hours.
  3. Ticket Rate :- starting from 540₹ ( for Second Class Chair Car ) to 1400₹ ( for AC First Class ).
  4. Distance of travel :- 392 km .
